National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) was set up in 2001 under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs , Government of India with head office in New Delhi.
The corporation is managed by a Board of Directors with representatives from Central Government, State Channelizing Agencies (SCA), National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD), Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI), Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd. (TRIFED) and three eminent persons representing Scheduled Tribes.
The main objects of the Corporation is to work for socio-economic and educational upliftment of Scheduled Tribes(STs), to provide better self-employment avenues so that they can become economically independent and self-reliant. The Corporation undertakes a wide range of activities for socio–economic and educational upliftment of the STs by devising and implementing financial assistance schemes exclusively for the tribal. These schemes are for providing loans to the poor STs at concessional rates of interest and on soft terms & conditions. For helping tribal students to pursue higher education, loans are offered which are subsidized by the Ministry of Human Resources Development.
The Corporation also provides grants for conducting training and skill development programs for tribal youth so that they can enhance their employability /productivity or can take-up entrepreneurial activity.
Incorporation NSFDC was setup by the Government of India on February 08, 1989 with the name National Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSCSTFDC). It was incorporated as a fully owned Government of India Company under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 (Previously Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956).
Bifurcation Consequent upon the orders of the Government of India declaring bifurcation of the erstwhile NSCSTFDC into two separate corporations (one each for SCs & STs), the existing NSFDC is now functioning exclusively for the development of the Scheduled Castes w.e.f. 10.04.2001. It has been assigned the task for financing, facilitating and mobilizing funds for the economic empowerment of persons having annual family income up to Rs. 3.00 lakh for both rural and urban areas. It provides financial assistance for income generating schemes for the target group through State Channelising Agencies (SCAs) which are nominated by respective State/UT Government and other Channel Partners such as Public Sector Banks, Regional Rural Banks, NBFC-MFIs, JHARCRAFT, NEDFi etc. This is managed by a Board of Directors with representation from Central Government, State Scheduled Castes Development Corporations, Financial Institutions and non-official members representing Scheduled Castes.
Share Capital The authorized share capital of the Corporation is Rs 1500 crores and the Paid up Capital is Rs. 1500.00 crore as on 30th September, 2021.

Extending loans to eligible students belonging to Scheduled Castes for pursuing full time professional and technical courses in India and abroad.
Extending loans to eligible youth to enhance their skill & employability by pursuing vocational education & training courses in India.
In pursuance of above objects, your NSFDC is engaged in providing financial assistance at concessional interest rates under various credit schemes to beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes, through the State/UT Channelizing Agencies and other channel partners and is also extending various non-credit schemes to support the target groups.
Set up on 24th March 1992 on the recommendations of the Centenary Celebrations Committee heded by the then Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. To implement the programmes and activities for furthering the ideology and message of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar among the masses in India as well as abroad. To manage , administer and carry on the important and long-term schemes and programmes identified during the Centenary Celebrations of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Nature of Organisation:
A Society set up under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, registered under the Registration of Societies Act, 1860. Also registered as a charitable institution U/S 12(A) and 80(G) of Income Tax Act. Fully funded by the Government of India.

The Babu Jagjivan Ram National Foundation was established by the Government of India as an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and registered under The Societies Registration Act, 1860 on 14th March 2008.
The President of the Foundation is the Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment.
The main aim of the Foundation is to propagate the ideals of the late Babu Jagjivan Ram, Deputy Prime Minister, on social reform as well as his ideology, philosophy of life, mission and vision to create a casteless and classless society. The Foundation works to promote the scheduled castes and weaker sections of society through development schemes to promote social justice, to remove discrimination, to empower the scheduled castes and underprivileged people of society as well as to bring about an attitudinal change in society to abolish untouchability and caste-based prejudice.
